Fields of Klein Improve Blood Properties:
Results of a Randomised, Double-Blind & Placebo-Controlled Study

Our blood reveals a lot about our state of health. Dark-field microscopy is a special technique for examining living blood. Alternative practitioner Jörg Rinne, a specialist in this field, used such a microscope – under the guidance of experienced alternative practitioner and medical coach Ralf Meyer – to examine the effect of Fields of Klein on vital blood.

The special microscopic technique allowed the researchers to directly observe the vital blood of the 20 participants. Living blood samples were examined without prior fixation or staining, allowing the structure and composition of the blood to be analysed in real time.

For the randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled observational study, 20 participants received a sleeping mat – 10 with a mattress topper featuring Fields of Klein technology, and 10 with a placebo mat. For three months, participants slept on the mat every night and were asked to undergo a blood test three times: before, during (6 weeks after the start), and after (12 weeks after the start) the test phase.

Worth Knowing

Dark-field microscopy allows a holistic view of the blood. In their natural state, the activity of cells can be assessed – how they interact and whether there are anomalies that are not easily measured chemically, such as platelet aggregation or micro-inflammation. It is therefore a dynamic view that gives us a very different picture. This observational study examines:

  • signs of inflammation
  • red blood cell health (erythrocyte health)
  • platelet aggregation
  • uric acid crystals in the blood
  • leukocyte function
  • membrane stability / liver metabolism
  • haematocrit value
  • oxidative stress

In a classic blood test, blood is usually analysed chemically in a laboratory. This yields values such as haemoglobin level, the number of red and white blood cells, or other parameters. These are of course important, but only provide static information.

To determine whether there is a visible difference in vital blood parameters between the control group and the group using the Fields of Klein sleeping mat, the sum of all deviations from the three examinations was recorded and presented for all participants. A high overall score means a larger negative deviation from the ideal state. The lower the value, the better the state of health as assessed by the vital blood parameters.

All results of the observational study are now also available in issue 06/2024 of the trade magazine
“Die Naturheilkunde.”

Summary of all measurement results

Better state of health through Fields of Klein

Whether a difference in blood quality was visible after using Fields of Klein is shown by the comparison between the control and treatment groups. All recorded vital blood parameters from the individual examinations were taken into account. This summary shows positive and significant effects of the Fields of Klein sleeping mat on participants’ blood health.

Treatment group with Fields of Klein

Here, a nearly identical starting point was seen compared to the control group. Already after 6 weeks, however, a significant difference emerged: a 21.6% improvement in the treatment group versus 6% improvement in the control group. The average state of health, measured by vital blood parameters, improved significantly. This positive change increased to 37% after 12 weeks of use, compared to the control group (6%).

Before using the placebo mat, participants had an overall score of 21.6. This dropped slightly at the second examination after 6 weeks, to a value of 20.3, and then remained constant until the final examination after 12 weeks of use.

Research sounds complicated? Here’s what the results mean for everyday life.

Initial indications of a systemic effect

Reduction in inflammatory reactions

While acute inflammation is often useful and necessary, chronic inflammation can lead to health problems when it becomes excessive or targets healthy tissue. Under the application of Fields of Klein, participants showed a highly significant reduction in inflammatory processes. Just 6 weeks after starting use, signs of inflammation seen under dark-field microscopy had already decreased by 13.6%, and after 12 weeks of use, by 48.9%.

Vital blood analysis shows early changes

Signs of inflammation become visible in vital blood

Under dark-field microscopy, various changes in vital blood can indicate increased inflammatory activity:

  • Clumping of red blood cells: this can indicate increased inflammatory activity.
  • Changes in the shape and structure of blood cells: inflammation can alter the shape of erythrocytes.
  • Increased number of white blood cells: this is a typical sign of an immune response to inflammation.
  • Presence of cell debris and microorganisms: these can indicate infection or inflammation.

Reduced platelet aggregation demonstrated

Platelets clump together less

In the treatment group using Fields of Klein, platelet activity first rose by 7.1%, then, after a further 6 weeks, showed a significant drop of 50%, reducing platelets’ (thrombocytes’) tendency to clump together. In parallel, over the same period, leukocytes (white blood cells) showed a 50% reduction in inflammatory reaction after 12 weeks, reinforcing both findings.

Platelets respond with a time delay

Platelet aggregation is the process by which platelets (thrombocytes) stick together and can form a blood clot. Platelet count rises during inflammatory processes, along with their tendency to clump. Dark-field microscopy reveals such a pathological clumping of platelets. As inflammation subsides, this is visible relatively early through a decrease in leukocytes (white blood cells). The platelet count decreases with a time delay, and correspondingly more slowly.

Decrease in erythrocyte pathology

Improved structure and vitality of red blood cells

Many parameters influence blood formation and thus the structure and stability of red blood cells (erythrocytes). Among Fields of Klein users, these factors showed a highly significant improvement of 47.4% after 6 weeks of use, and 57.9% after 12 weeks. Significantly fewer pathological changes were visible in the blood after three months of use. An improvement in the pathology of red blood cells can in turn lead to better oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, which can be crucial across many areas of the body.

Functions of red blood cells for our health

Red blood cells serve more than one important role

Red blood cells, also known as erythrocytes, have several important functions in the body:

  • Oxygen transport: they carry oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and organs.
  • Carbon dioxide transport: they carry carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs, where it is exhaled.
  • pH regulation: they help regulate the blood’s pH value by absorbing and releasing excess acids and bases.

These functions are crucial for the body’s survival and health. Without enough red blood cells, the body cannot work efficiently, which can lead to fatigue and other health problems.

Improved uric acid concentration in vital blood demonstrated

Fewer uric acid crystals in the blood

A significant improvement in blood uric acid concentration – and thus in its breakdown and excretion – was observed among treatment-group participants using Fields of Klein technology. After just the first six weeks of use, 23.0% fewer uric acid crystals were visible in the blood. This effect increased further after a further six weeks of use, to a reduction in uric acid crystals of 30.7%.

Avoiding an imbalance between formation and excretion

In the human body, large numbers of cells are newly formed and aged cells broken down every day. The uric acid produced in this process is mostly excreted via the kidneys, but also via the skin (sweat), saliva, and intestinal secretion. If there is an imbalance between the formation and excretion of uric acid, however, uric acid can precipitate in the form of light-refracting crystals in the blood. If uric acid levels remain elevated over the long term, this can lead to gout.

Vital blood shows improved flow properties

Reduction in rouleaux formation

Among Fields of Klein users, the first six weeks brought a reduction in rouleaux formation of 38.9%, and after 12 weeks a reduction of 16.7% from baseline, which can have a positive effect on blood flow.

Bar chart: rouleaux formation and haematocrit in the treatment group
Dark-field microscope image: rouleaux formation of red blood cells

Haematocrit under the dark-field microscope

What is rouleaux formation?

In rouleaux formation, red blood cells appear stacked closely together under the microscope – like coins in a roll. This clumping of red blood cells is favoured when the haematocrit value deviates from the ideal. This refers to the percentage share of cellular elements in total blood volume. Normal values in a standard blood count are around 40–50% blood cells, of which 96% are red blood cells (erythrocytes). Even slight deviations can cause “rouleaux” to form in capillary blood and lead to circulatory disorders.

Visible reduction in free-radical activity

Less oxidative stress

Under the application of Fields of Klein technology, there was a clear reduction in free-radical activity within the blood samples examined, by 28.6% after 6 weeks and 14.3% after 12 weeks.

Bar chart: oxidative stress in the treatment group
Dark-field microscope image: signs of oxidative stress in the blood

Free radicals can damage cells

What is oxidative stress?

Oxidative stress arises when there is an imbalance in the body between harmful molecules known as free radicals and the defence mechanisms meant to neutralise them. Free radicals can damage cells and tissue, which can lead to various diseases and ageing processes. Normally, our body has antioxidants that help fight these free radicals, but when there are too many free radicals, it is called oxidative stress.

More stable red blood cell membranes

Among Fields of Klein users, red blood cell membrane stability increased by 32.0% after six weeks and by 44.0% after 12 weeks.

Bar chart: change in membrane stability in the treatment group
Dark-field microscope image: red blood cell membrane

Membrane stability under dark-field microscopy

What does membrane stability tell us?

Membrane stability refers to the cell membrane’s ability to maintain its structure and function under different conditions. Under dark-field microscopy, you can see how well the cell membrane stays intact and functions. High membrane stability means the cells are healthy and their membranes are not easily damaged. Low membrane stability can mean cells are more vulnerable to damage and dysfunction.

Two case examples were also documented:

  • One participant reported reduced leg swelling: since starting use of the Fields of Klein sleeping mat, there was a significant decrease in daytime leg swelling.
  • The participant had previously experienced 5–6 cramps per night. Through sleeping on Fields of Klein, cramps decreased to 1–2 per night. This improved her ability to fall asleep, as she no longer had “fear of cramps.” Her ability to stay asleep also improved.
  • Another participant using the sleeping mat reported falling asleep faster, sleeping more soundly, being able to concentrate better, and experiencing significant improvement in joint pain.

Results of the observational study at a glance

The results of the observational study provide initial evidence that Fields of Klein can have a positive effect on general health. All vital blood parameters showed improvement under dark-field microscopy after 12 weeks of using Fields of Klein. This could play a significant role in the prevention and relief of complaints.

Based on these results and patient reports, the authors clearly recommend Fields of Klein technology for prevention, maintaining health, and as supportive therapy in the treatment of microcirculation disorders, chronic inflammation, metabolic disorders, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and states of energy deficiency.

Is the observational study relevant to everyday life?

Our conclusion on the observational study

The vital blood parameters examined provide initial insight into general health, and also what role the use of Fields of Klein could play in chronic disease, cell ageing, and metabolic disorders:

Circulation

Whether red blood cells are optimally shaped, platelets clump pathologically, or inflammation is present all affect circulation – and above all microcirculation. Improving these parameters can therefore have a positive effect on the flow properties of the blood.

Performance

Healthy red blood cells are essential for many vital functions in the body: without healthy erythrocytes, the body would not be adequately supplied with oxygen. A sufficient number of healthy red blood cells is necessary to avoid fatigue and weakness, and to maintain physical performance.

Complaints

In particular, chronic inflammation can strain the body and, over the long term, damage organs and tissue. It is often associated with complaints such as heart disease, diabetes, and circulatory disorders. Reducing signs of inflammation can therefore improve quality of life and performance across many areas.
